This app uses your browser's built-in TTS engine. Microsoft Edge has 300+ premium voices — far better than Chrome or Firefox. To activate them:
Add character voices by tagging dialogue lines:
The detective stepped into the rain. [SPKR: Alice|ARIA] I've been waiting for you. She smiled, but her eyes were cold. [SPKR: Bob|GUY] You shouldn't have come here alone.
Everything without a tag is read by Narrator. Each unique speaker name becomes its own character with its own voice, auto-assigned unless you say otherwise.
Attach a voice card the first time a character speaks — [SPKR: Name|CARD] — and that voice is locked in right away instead of picked later from a dropdown. See edge-voices.json for the full card list (ARIA, GUY, SONIA, RYAN…). You can still preview/override any voice manually in the Studio panel.
